The Horton Center All-Church Retreat
Friday-Sunday, August 24-26, 2018

This weekend is open to everyone – adults, children, singles, couples, families. It is all about fun – hiking, swimming, visiting, reading, relaxing and enjoying the peace and beauty of northern New Hampshire in the late summer. This is a great way to spend time with and get to know other First Church members, especially if you are new to the community. Join Rev. Andy, Rev. The First Church Christmas Craft Fair – November 2nd and 3rd
Below are some ways you can help!

  • Silent Auction donations – If you have an item you wish to donate or have any questions about making a donation, please contact Sarah Creaney at 603-921-1009 or [email protected]
  • Homemade food items – If you prepare preserves and pickled vegetables this summer, consider making some extra to donate to the fair. These types of items are always popular with fair-goers. Contact Barbara Stone, 978-925-9015 for more information.
  • Sewing group – A drop-in sewing group meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week, 10:00 AM-2:00 PM, in the dining room. Contact Barbara Stone, 978-925-9015 for more information.
  • The craft group will meet on the following dates in the dining room at 6:30 PM: Wednesday, August 15; September 12 and 26; October 10 and 24. All crafters are welcome! Contact Jocelyn Henning, 880-1839 with any questions.

The First Music Annual Ad Campaign is underway. Renewals have been sent out from the Ad Campaign Subcommittee that supports FIRST MUSIC and new ad space will be available to book, through the summer. Help us keep FIRST MUSIC a balanced budget music outreach to our community! 333rd Anniversary Celebration ~ Friday, November 16, 2018

Church Happenings and Outreach – Ongoing

Bereavement Calendar – The church office has created a bereavement calendar to help us better remember and celebrate the lives of church members, friends, and loved ones who have recently passed away. If your family experiences a loss, please contact the church office so that we can be sure to include you in our prayers and our records.

The Bible, Friends, and Coffee is on break for the summer months. An informal study group will meet on August 13 in the library. Contact Mary Beth Glajch at [email protected] or the church office with any questions.

The Caregiver’s Support Group is on summer break and will resume on the second Thursday of September. Please contact Rev. Jami for more information.

End 68 Hours of Hunger provides bags of food weekly to local elementary school children who would otherwise not have food over the weekend. The following items are needed (updated list): Individually packaged snacks such as granola bars, cookies/crackers, microwave popcorn, Canned Soup, Peanut Butter 18 oz. plastic, Jelly 20 oz. plastic squeeze bottles, Boxes of Instant Oatmeal, Cans of fruit (not applesauce), Crackers (Ritz or Graham), Hot Chocolate or Carnation Instant Breakfast packets

First Church Cyclists invite anyone, regardless of age or ability to join them for some fun, fresh air, fellowship and ice cream. The next ride: Sunday, August 12 at the Minuteman Bikeway, Bedford, MA at 2:00 PM. See the complete schedule on the First Church website. First Church serves dinner at the Nashua Soup Kitchen on the third Tuesday and fourth Friday of the month from 4:00-6:00 PM. New volunteers are always welcome to participate in this simple, but important outreach ministry. To serve on a Tuesday please contact Patricia Cooper, [email protected] or 566-1826. If you are interested in helping on a Friday, please call Cindy Staradub, 888-9561.

The Giving Card offers an option for those folks who give electronically or monthly to symbolically participate in the offering. Cards can be found in the basket at the back of the sanctuary. Simply place it in the offering plate.

The Ladies Lunch Bunch is on summer break and will resume on the second Wednesday of September.

The Men’s Breakfast Group meets every Thursday morning at 7:30 AM at the Pine Street Eatery, 136 Pine St., Nashua. For more information, contact Dick Zoerb, 886-8665.

The Men’s Munchers meet on the first Tuesday of the month at noon for lunch and fellowship. On August 7, the group will dine at Portofino’s, 456 DW Hwy., Merrimack. All men of the church and their guests are welcome. Contact the Ken Chapman, 603-521-7169, for more information.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry – Knitters and crocheters are invited to work on prayer shawls at home. Contact Karen Bianchi, 603-897-0788 or Laurel Lang 603-465-3372 to see how you can be involved in this simple, but meaningful ministry.

Pulpit Flowers – If you like to provide flowers for the pulpit please sign up on the chart in Fellowship Hall or call the church office. Flower arrangements can be purchased from your favorite florist or can be created from flowers you’ve purchased or grown.

Thank You Project’s 4th Annual Water Walk
