Christian Education
First Church’s growing ministry of Christian Education for children, youth, and adults is designed to inform by awakening or enhancing ethical awareness, bringing alive our biblical and historical roots, and giving direction and skill to our impulse to serve others in the name of Jesus Christ.
Our Sunday School for preschool through eighth grade meets each Sunday morning, September through June, from 10:00 - 11:15 a.m. Well trained and professionally supervised volunteer teachers seek to create a caring, accepting atmosphere in which to learn about the Bible and the principles of the Christian faith as they apply to living faithfully in today’s world.
Pre-Confirmation is the name given to the 6th through 8th grade class. Grade 6 meets in the Fireside room for a program focused on the stories of the Old Testament. Grade 7 and 8 students choose from several program options including drama, service, crafts and a variety of hands on opportunities.
Ninth graders attend a year long Confirmation Class in preparation for confirming their baptisms and joining the church. These classes meet approximately three times a month during the school year, primarily on Sundays, 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Adult Education is offered in the form of weekly Bible Studies, occasional Book Studies, and courses on a variety of Faith Topics offered throughout the year. A Spiritual Retreat is also offered for adults.
